Travish: Hello

LWALN : Tell me a little bit more about your project… i.e. how long is it? Is it a paper or presentation?

Travish: 3 (three) pages typeed, minimum. It will be a paper, we do not have to present it.

Travish: Oh yeah, i forgot sources on a different page
about 21 minutes ago

LWALN : Ok- thanks. Where have you already looked for info?

Travish: i have searched some stuff on bing, but I specifically am looking to find out how people woke up before alarm clocks
about 20 minutes ago

LWALN : Ok- got it. Let me check a few things here…
about 19 minutes ago

LWALN : I’m looking at some of the search results from the search box on the library’s main page, and there are some interesting things here:,cookie,url,cpid,uid&custid=s8863137&bquery=(%26quot%3balarm+clocks%26quot%3b+AND+history)&type=1&site=eds-live&scope=site&authtype=ip,uid

Travish: interesting

Travish: my initial hypothesis was that people used roosters to wake them up. but then i thought if they lived in a city, they couldn’t do that. you couldn’t have everyone in a city having their own rooster!

LWALN : good point… I’m going to search for “alarm clock” in the library catalog to see if we have anything that goes into more depth
about 14 minutes ago

LWALN : There’s actually a national museum of clocks and watches. They might have something useful:

Travish: wow, a whole museum!

Travish: oh no i missed the james bond watch exhibit!

LWALN : Ok- another thought: you may want to look into the effect that natural light has on waking
about 5 minutes ago

Travish: oh wow, i had not even THOUGHT about that!!

LWALN : Here we go: you might want to check out this print encyclopedia on sleep:

LWALN : You’re likely to find some entries in there that go into waking people up from a biological angle.

LWALN : Does that help?

Travish: yes, THANK you for your help!

Travish’s Commentary:

My dad said I can’t get a rooster.  I told him I NEED it so I won’t be late to weight lifting, but he said no!  He’s a dumb jerk.
